Did someone ask for color?

Tonight we worked with another master painting. This one is a lovely landscape by Wassily Kandinsky titled Cemetery and Vicarage in Kochel. The colors are bold and pure and the imagery is not about the reality of the location, but the reality of Kandinsky's memory of and emotional response to his encounter with the location. It was difficult to switch gears and approach a painting from this fantastic view, but everyone buckled down and did a really great job. I think everyone learned a lot tonight whether or not they realize it yet! Welcome to Ryan. You did a great job, especially considering tonight was definitely not geared toward beginners. Nice job on the color mixing!

Oh, and for those who were convinced that nobody would ever actually buy a painting like that (erhrm, Brenda...), check out the auction for this other Kandinsky painting. Does $21,157,438 sound like a fair price?
